Improved Air Quality in Mexico City

Meteorological models indicate an improvement in ventilation conditions for this Friday in the Megalopolis. The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (Came), in collaboration with the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources, as well as the environmental authorities of Mexico City and the State of Mexico, will be closely monitoring air quality and weather conditions.

Came has announced the suspension of the atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone starting at 6:00 PM on Thursday. This decision is based on the fact that hourly ozone concentrations at that time have dropped below the levels established to end the contingency.

According to the latest meteorological data, the movement of the high-pressure system northward over the central plateau of the country has caused a decrease in atmospheric stability over the Valley of Mexico, which has favored greater afternoon ventilation and the dispersion of contaminants.

The public has expressed gratitude for following the recommendations to protect health and reduce pollutant emissions. Citizens are urged to stay informed by consulting the Air Quality and Health Index on the official website and in the AIRE application available for various types of devices.

Amidst this news, authorities are calling for caution and to closely follow updates on air quality and weather conditions.
