41 Reports of Puncture Cases in Mexico City Metro

The Attorney General of Mexico City reports 41 cases of punctures in the Metro system, with symptoms including dizziness and nausea. In response, a security operation is being deployed.


41 Reports of Puncture Cases in Mexico City Metro

The Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of Mexico City has reported that so far, 41 complaints have been registered for cases of needle pricks in the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro. According to the head of the FGJ, Bertha Alcalde, 33 complaints correspond to the Metro, 4 to the Metrobús, 3 to public roads, and 1 to the Pumabús.

Alcalde detailed that, of the total complaints, in 15 cases, the presence of a puncture wound in the skin has been medically confirmed, while in 4 cases, the presence of some substance has been found. Regarding symptoms, most of the affected individuals have experienced dizziness, nausea, or drowsiness. In only 4 cases have substances been detected in the bodies of the affected individuals, which are being analyzed.

Attorney Alcalde emphasized that, so far, there is no evidence that any of the affected individuals have been victims of serious crimes, such as kidnapping or sexual abuse. In response to this situation, the Citizen Security Secretariat will deploy an operation to protect Metro users, with the participation of 5,800 members of the Secretariat and 683 guards from the Collective Transportation System.
