The Government of Mexico City, led by Clara Brugada Molina, is providing assistance to families affected by a fire in an informal settlement in the Lindavista neighborhood. The incident took place on Friday, May 2nd, and fortunately, there were no human casualties.
Personnel from various departments are working on debris removal and cleaning the area so that the affected residents can return to normalcy. The Ministry of Welfare is supplying food to the affected families, following the directives of the head of government.
On the morning of Saturday, May 3rd, 27 members from different institutions participated in the removal of debris and helped residents with their belongings in the affected area. The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City is conducting investigations to determine the causes of the fire, which apparently started due to a short circuit caused by electrical overloads.
The Ministry of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection coordinated emergency operations from a unified command post. The Fire Department, with support from other entities, worked effectively to control the fire.
Clara Brugada visited the affected settlement along with the mayor of Gustavo A. Madero, Janecarlo Lozano, and ordered the initiation of discussions with the Mexican Social Security Institute, the landowner, to resolve the housing situation definitively. The Lindavista area was composed of 150 houses built with sheets, of which 33 were affected by the fire.
The Ministry of Housing, along with other entities, committed to providing comprehensive solutions to the affected communities. A permanent command post was established to ensure the safety of residents and coordinate necessary actions to reduce risks in the area.
Efforts are being made to provide temporary housing for the affected families while a long-term housing project is developed. The goal is to ensure dignified and safe conditions for everyone, especially for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
Cleaning and debris removal efforts have been carried out in the affected area, in addition to censuses and distribution of food among the affected families.
