Heat Wave and Strong Winds Expected in Mexico City

Mexico City braces for a heat wave starting May 6, with temperatures reaching 30-32°C. Strong winds may exceed 50 km/h. Follow safety guidelines to protect your health amid the extreme weather conditions.

For this Tuesday, a very hot environment is forecasted in Mexico City, with partly cloudy skies and high UV ray indices. The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection warns of strong gusts of wind in the capital, although no rain is expected.

Winds from the south and southeast could reach speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour, with gusts that could exceed 50 km/h. High temperatures, expected starting at 3:00 PM, could reach up to 30 degrees, being more intense between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Throughout the week, a heat wave is expected to raise temperatures in Mexico City. Between May 6 and May 8, temperatures between 30 and 32 degrees are expected, according to the SGIRPC. Additionally, the National Water Commission reports that 22 states will experience warm to very warm weather.

It is important to take precautions under these conditions: avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, seek cool and ventilated places, use sunscreen, stay hydrated, wear light and light-colored clothing, and pay special attention to babies, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses. These recommendations aim to prevent health issues during the heat wave.
