Jazlyn's grandmother, Alicia Matías Teodoro, was recognized as a 'hero grandmother' following the incident in Iztapalapa, as she protected her granddaughter with her own body during the gas tanker explosion on September 10, 2025.
The Michou and Mau Foundation announced in a press release shared on social media that Jazlyn, the minor who suffered severe burns from the gas tanker explosion in Iztapalapa, returned to Mexico with her mother after two months and five days at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas, where she received specialized care.
The organization detailed that the girl's arrival was made in an ambulance from Benito Juárez International Airport, with the support and coordination of Mexico City's Health Secretariat. It also thanked the U.S. hospital for the care provided during her recovery.
In the statement, Jazlyn's mother expressed her gratitude for the media's patience and interest, and stressed that respect and prudence have been essential for the family during this period. The foundation added that it will continue to report on the treatments the minor will receive to address the consequences of her injuries.
After the incident, she suffered burns on over 90% of her body and passed away two days later, on September 12.
