Inspira Cambio A.C. held the informative forum 'From Clinical to Community' on the occasion of World AIDS Day, which is commemorated every December 1st. The event brought together institutional representatives, clinical specialists, activists, and community leaders with the aim of analyzing the integration of science, public health, and community work in the face of contemporary challenges to the HIV response in Mexico.
Mali González, Head of Operations at Inspira Cambio A.C., emphasized the importance of creating community spaces that include the experiences of people living with and without HIV as part of a comprehensive response. The forum was moderated by Rosy López and Javier Maya, who guided the discussions through six thematic blocks.
Block 1, dedicated to intersectoral work, featured Dr. Juan Luis Mosqueda, Director General of Censida, and Aarón Rojas Cortés, Executive Director of Inspira Cambio A.C., who stressed the need to reinforce strategic alliances to meet national goals. Block 2 addressed the integration of new scientific evidence into Combination Prevention. Block 3, focused on the sexualized use of substances among men, highlighted the need for interdisciplinary approaches.
Block 4 analyzed preferred antiretroviral treatment regimens for adults with HIV. Block 5 was dedicated to reviewing clinical cases. Block 6 centered on the discussion of resistance to medicalization as the predominant response to the epidemic. At the closing, the moderators expressed gratitude to the institutions that supported the event, including CENSIDA and AMMVIH.
Inspira Cambio A.C. reaffirmed its conviction that the HIV response must fully incorporate Combination Prevention, placing the person at the center and recognizing the role of pleasure, mental health, support for substance use, and social determinants. The forum consolidated a space where community and clinical perspectives converge to advance towards a more equitable and humane HIV response in Mexico.
