The document highlights that the food system, from production to consumption, is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, recommending a preference for plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains over high-impact products such as red meat, processed meats, and ultra-processed foods. Ten key recommendations. The Dietary Guidelines for 2025-2030 establish ten central guidelines, including: exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and appropriate complementary feeding up to two years or more; daily consumption of fresh, seasonal, and locally produced vegetables and fruits; daily intake of legumes like beans, lentils, fava beans, and chickpeas; a preference for whole grains and tubers as a base energy source; moderate consumption of animal-based foods with a preference for plant-based options; avoiding ultra-processed foods and products with warning labels; drinking water instead of sugary beverages; avoiding alcohol consumption; engaging in daily physical activity; sharing meals as a family and reducing food waste.
