Mega Vaccination Center in Mexico City Becomes National Benchmark

A mega vaccination center in Mexico City successfully vaccinated over 78,000 people without any refusals. The initiative demonstrated the viability of a concentrated vaccination model in a high-demand urban setting, resulting from coordination between the university and the health system.

The Mega Vaccination Center set up at the University Olympic Stadium during November 2025 became a national benchmark for its operational capacity and results. According to the presented report, no one was denied vaccination, and there was sufficient availability of vaccines, which allowed for continuous and orderly operation. During the drive, vaccines against influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcus, and measles were administered, which helped to optimize coverage in a concentrated period. The operation was the result of coordinated work between the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the National Health System in an inter-institutional scheme that guaranteed unrestricted access. With the application of 78,200 vaccines and the care of more than 54,000 people from all federal entities, the initiative surpassed initial forecasts and demonstrated the viability of concentrated vaccination models in high-demand urban contexts. One of the most relevant elements was the higher-than-expected attendance. Inter-institutional coordination allowed for a national-scale response. This experience made it possible to identify areas for improvement to streamline processes in future exercises.
