COMEGO and UNAM launch diploma in medical leadership and transformation

In this sense, the diploma program seeks to develop participants' capabilities to strengthen clinical, administrative, and organizational processes, based on reliable information and current regulatory frameworks. The academic proposal recognizes that technology, by itself, does not replace medical judgment, but it does transform decision-making scenarios. Academic structure and applied methodology The diploma will consist of 13 modules, taught by an interdisciplinary faculty made up of specialists in medicine, law, psychology, administration, and communication. COMEGO and UNAM promote a diploma with a clinical and technological vision. COMEGO and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) announced the launch of the 'Diploma in Medical Leadership and Integral Transformation of Professional Practice,' academically endorsed by UNAM. This initiative arises as a response to the new challenges faced by healthcare professionals in an environment marked by technological innovation, the need for clear regulation, and the protection of personal data in medical practice. Leadership, management, and an integral vision of professional practice The diploma proposes a training that goes beyond the clinical act, incorporating competencies related to leadership, responsible management, effective communication, research, negotiation, finance, ethics, bioethics, and human development, areas that directly impact the quality of care and the sustainability of medical practice. From the program's academic perspective, the contemporary environment demands specialists capable of coordinating teams, making informed decisions, and strengthening relationships with patients, institutions, and organizations in the health sector. Artificial intelligence as a cross-cutting component One of the central axes of the diploma is the review of artificial intelligence applications in medical practice, addressed from a clinical and operational perspective. WHY HEALTH IS FIRST Dr. Elsa Díaz López, a tenured professor and member of the COMEGO Board of Directors, states that the objective is not only to introduce new technologies but also to equip specialists with critical elements that allow them to evaluate their relevance and impact on daily care. Informed decisions in a complex technological environment From the academic coordination, it has been pointed out that the use of artificial intelligence in health requires clear criteria to avoid clinical, legal, and ethical risks. The methodology will combine theoretical content with practical tools through the analysis of real cases, problem-based learning, simulations, discussion panels, and the development of a thesis. The pedagogical approach prioritizes situations typical of the office, hospital practice, and institutional management, with the aim of transferring learning to immediate professional practice. Dates, modality, and venue of the diploma The program will be held from January 27 to July 28, 2026, in person, at the COMEGO Forum, located in the World Trade Center in Mexico City.
