Mexico to Be Key Player in 'The Iberoamerican Microbiota Path 2026'

Mexico will participate in the international scientific route 'The Iberoamerican Microbiota Path 2026', strengthening its position as a strategic center of knowledge in the region. The country will be represented at two venues, including the Summit in Mexico City, which will highlight the importance of studying microbiota for the health of the Iberoamerican population.

Mexico will be a key participant in the international scientific route «The Iberoamerican Microbiota Path 2026». In addition to the country's capital, a preliminary forum will be held in Mérida from February 19 to 21. The Third Microbiota Forum is organized by the Mexican Society of Microbiota (SoMeMi) under the direction of its President, Ana Teresa Abreu and Abreu, which reinforces its role as a natural bridge between Europe and Latin America within this scientific collaboration network. Yolanda Quintero Gomez, Academic Director of the Microbiota México Summit, expressed her satisfaction with the integration of the Mexican meeting into this international route, stating that this inclusion «will give greater visibility to the importance of microbiota for the health of the Iberoamerican population and strengthen the exchange of knowledge among specialists from the entire region».

The Iberoamerican Microbiota Path includes the following venues and dates: • Málaga, Spain — February 4–6 • Mérida, Mexico — February 19–21 • Bogotá, Colombia — April 24–25 • Caracas, Venezuela — May 15–16 • Asunción, Paraguay — July 3 • Quito, Ecuador — July 15–17 • Mexico City, Mexico — July 30–31 and August 1 (Microbiota Summit) • Antigua, Guatemala — August 7–8 • San Salvador, El Salvador — August 27 • Buenos Aires, Argentina — October 2–3

This route seeks to build a more integrated scientific community, promote continuous medical education, and accelerate the translation of knowledge about microbiota into clinical practice, with direct benefits for public health.

With two national venues, Mexico positions itself as one of the most influential actors on the Iberoamerican microbiota map in 2026.
