National Measles Vaccination Campaign Active Across Mexico

Mexico's Ministry of Health announced the continuation of the national measles vaccination campaign. Over 14 million doses have been administered, and 27.3 million were procured for 2026 to maintain high coverage and protect the population.

The Ministry of Health, through the National Center for Children's and Adolescent's Health (CENSIA), reported that the national measles vaccination campaign remains active nationwide. This campaign is part of the Universal Vaccination Program and strategies to respond to detected cases. According to official records from the SIS-CENSIA platform, from January 1, 2025, to February 6, 2026, 14,297,330 doses of measles vaccine have been administered nationwide, reflecting sustained and continuous coverage. For the year 2026, the health sector acquired 27.3 million doses of measles vaccine. The Ministry of Health maintains permanent monitoring of vaccination coverage and active epidemiological surveillance to prevent measles transmission, detect possible cases in a timely manner, and adjust immunization strategies according to the evolving epidemiological landscape. These actions are part of a comprehensive approach to public health prevention, control, and protection, with an emphasis on operational continuity and equitable access to vaccination services. The national vaccination strategy is primarily aimed at: children aged 12 months for the first MMR dose, children aged 18 months for the second MMR dose, children aged 6 years for the corresponding booster, children under 6 to 12 months residing in areas with active outbreaks who receive a 'dose 0', and people under 49 years without a complete vaccination schedule. This effort involves the entire health sector under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the 32 federal entities. Currently, 23,361,000 doses are available for use, with a commitment to maintaining the purchase of sufficient biologicals to protect the population across the country.
