Phase I Environmental Contingency Declared in Mexico City Due to Ozone

According to official records, at 3:00 PM, an ozone concentration of 146 ppb was reached at the station of the Faculty of Higher Studies Acatlán.

Authorities explained that this situation is due to the persistence of an anticyclonic circulation system over the center of the country, which has generated moderate to strong atmospheric stability and a mostly clear sky with intense solar radiation over the Mexico City Metropolitan Area.

The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis detailed that these factors have favored the accumulation of ozone precursor pollutants and its formation, to which the weak wind with variable direction recorded within the valley has contributed, leading to the air quality being classified as "Bad".
