This Monday, March 23, Mexico City will experience a day of contrasting weather, starting with a cool morning and low temperatures, followed by rain and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. According to the National Weather Service (SMN), a clear sky with haze is expected in the early hours of the day, while minimum temperatures will range between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius in the capital's 16 boroughs.
Morning cold and alert in three boroughs The coldest conditions will be recorded in the southern and western parts of the city, where the Ministry of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has activated a yellow alert. The boroughs under this measure are Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, and Tlalpan, where the lowest temperatures are expected during the early morning and morning hours of Monday. In contrast, other boroughs like Gustavo A. Madero will reach lows of up to 11 degrees, while areas like Cuauhtémoc, Iztapalapa, and Iztacalco are expected to see values around 10 degrees.
Rain and storm forecast For the afternoon, the outlook will change with increasing cloudiness, leading to a warm environment with a probability of rain and showers. The SMN forecasts accumulations of between 5 and 25 millimeters in a 24-hour period, as well as the possible presence of electrical discharges and hail in different parts of the city. These conditions could cause flooding, traffic disruptions, and reduced visibility in some areas, so authorities recommend taking precautions.
Recommendations due to temperature drop Given the forecast for low temperatures, Civil Protection called on the population to dress warmly, cover their nose and mouth, and avoid sudden temperature changes. They also recommended keeping pets indoors, not leaving them exposed to the elements, and maintaining a balanced diet with water, and fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C.
