Yellow Alert activated in CDMX due to low temperatures

Due to the low temperatures forecasted for Friday, October 25, in Mexico City, authorities have activated a Yellow Alert in various boroughs. The affected areas are: Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco. These zones are characterized by their proximity to wooded or mountainous areas, which intensifies the feeling of cold during autumn and winter.

In light of this situation, the Secretary of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) has issued a series of recommendations to the public to mitigate the effects of the cold. It is advised to wear warm clothing, such as scarves, gloves, and hats, and to avoid sudden temperature changes. It is also recommended to ventilate enclosed spaces where heaters or stoves are used to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

It is essential for the population to be attentive to any symptoms of hypothermia or respiratory illnesses and to visit health centers if necessary. The Yellow Alert will remain active during the early hours of Friday, October 25, when more intense cold is expected, updating as weather conditions improve throughout the day.

The weather forecasts indicate that temperatures could drop to -4 degrees Celsius in the Mexican capital, posing a health risk, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with respiratory illnesses.
