In the high areas of Mexico City, waking up brings low temperatures ranging from zero to five degrees, according to the forecast from the National Water Commission (Conagua) for Monday, October 28. This phenomenon will affect several states, such as Coahuila, Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Oaxaca, and others.
During the day, intervals of showers are expected in Mexico City, State of Mexico, Puebla, Tamaulipas, and other entities. Given these weather conditions, the Secretariat of Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) recommends that the population take precautions, such as wearing at least three layers of clothing, covering the nose and mouth, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and getting vaccinated against influenza.
Additionally, it is advised to drink plenty of water, consume fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C, keep places ventilated when using heaters or fireplaces, and check that candles and braziers are extinguished before sleeping to prevent fires or poisoning. In case of discomfort, it is important to see a doctor.
Conagua forecasts significant rainfall in regions of Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Veracruz, as well as wind gusts of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour in some areas. Regarding temperature, cold conditions are expected in the north, center, and east of Mexico, with the possibility of snow or sleet on the peaks of the Popocatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, and Pico de Orizaba volcanoes.
Minimum temperatures are expected to be between minus 5 and 0 degrees Celsius with frost in the mountains of several states, while in contrast, maximums of 35 to 40 degrees are expected in other regions of the country. Several entities will experience temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees, including Baja California, Chihuahua, Guerrero, Michoacán, and Yucatán, among others.
