Controversial Arrest of Regina in Mexico City

The detention of Regina in Mexico City has generated controversy after journalist Antonio Nieto shared on social media the case of a student who tried to avoid a traffic ticket by running over a police officer. The events occurred when the young woman parked her car on Avenida Tamaulipas and Calle Ciencias in La Condesa, where she was fined by traffic officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).

According to testimonies from the authorities, to prevent Regina from escaping, they placed two bicycles in front of her vehicle. In her attempt to flee, the student ran over a female police officer, who sustained injuries to her tibia and fibula and was hospitalized. After the incident, Regina was subdued by another officer to carry out her arrest.

In the videos and photographs circulated on social media, the injured officer can be seen waiting for medical attention in the public street, next to the bicycle on the ground. Regina's detention has generated divided opinions among witnesses and internet users, with some arguing that the police action was legal as it was a flagrant crime, while others have questioned the force used during the arrest of the 19-year-old student.
