Carlos Esquivel Lacroix has been appointed as the new Director of Animal Welfare in Mexico City. He aims to ensure the dignity and protection of non-human animals through various initiatives focused on science and ethics.

Carlos Esquivel Lacroix has been appointed as the new Director of Animal Welfare of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico in Mexico City. He is known for his extensive experience in the field and is committed to ensuring animal rights so they can live with dignity and free from abuse.

In a press conference, Esquivel Lacroix highlighted the importance of caring for and upholding the dignity of animals, stating that it is essential to guarantee these aspects in all actions. He presented the main objectives of his management, focused on science, bioethics, and legality, with the aim of promoting a culture of respect and proper coexistence between humans and animals in the Mexican capital.

His action plan includes initiatives such as creating a detailed registry of the animal population, contraception and sterilization programs, awareness campaigns, and measures to address the issue of animal abandonment. Esquivel Lacroix also commits to reviewing and strengthening local laws related to animal welfare and the regulation of breeders and markets.

The leader of the PVEM, Jesús Sesma, emphasized the importance of including non-human living beings in environmental issues and announced that Esquivel Lacroix's work will contribute to improving the environment of Mexico City. Both professionals will be part of the advisory team for the creation of a regulatory law that prohibits animal abuse and obliges the State to protect animals, as established by recent constitutional reforms.

Carlos Esquivel Lacroix is a recognized specialist in animal welfare, with a long career that includes having been head of the Animal Attention Agency (AGATAN) and an academic at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (FMVZ) of UNAM for more than three decades. His experience and achievements in the field validate his role in promoting animal welfare in Mexico City.
