Meeting on Security Challenges in Nuevo León

The Attorney General of Nuevo León, Pedro Arce, met in Mexico City with the Federal Security Secretary, Omar García Harfuch. According to federal government sources, the meeting was positive as it allowed García Harfuch to gain a perspective on security in Nuevo León that differs from that presented by Governor Samuel García.

Also present at the meeting was State Security Secretary Gerardo Escamilla, who mentioned that he maintains a good relationship with Attorney General Arce. García Harfuch emphasized that the political dispute over control of the Attorney General's Office does not benefit the security strategy, advocating for focusing on existing collaboration rather than proposing a change in the leadership of the Attorney General's Office.

In contrast to this position, Governor García has expressed concern about ending his term with Arce, who has ties to the PRI, still in charge of the Attorney General's Office. This situation reflects a disagreement in the vision of security management in Nuevo León between the governor and federal authorities.
