Journalist and reporter Carlos Jiménez has expressed through his social media that the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City, led by the newly appointed Bertha Alcalde, is attempting to arrest him. This action would be in retaliation for the exposure Jiménez has made regarding what he considers a poor performance by Ana Alicia Casillas Hurtazo, the prosecutor for Sexual Crimes Investigation.
Earlier this year, Carlos Jiménez publicly denounced that the capital's attorney's office planned to press charges against him for allegedly endangering an official by pointing out negligence and inadequate treatment of victims of sexual crimes. More recently, C4 confirmed that they are now looking for his arrest.
In a post, Jiménez stated: "WE DENOUNCE those WHO SEEK TO CENSOR US. The @FGRMexico is proceeding with the COMPLAINT we filed against the NETWORK of officials from @FiscaliaCDMX who CENSOR us, as they are bothered by the exposure of their poor performance and abandonment of victims. If they do this to us… they will do it to anyone!"
These events reflect a confrontation between the journalist and the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City, highlighting the delicate relationship between press freedom and the authorities responsible for justice in the city. Jiménez has been known for his courage in exposing situations he considers relevant to the public interest, despite the possible legal repercussions this may entail.
