A video that has gone viral on social media shows three members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) in Mexico City abusing their authority against a citizen in the Roma Norte neighborhood. In the video, the officers can be seen cornering the victim against the hood of the patrol car with license plate MC-006-E4. One of the police officers, attempting to hide, punches the citizen in the face.
A person who witnessed the abuse from a building managed to record the events, evidencing the aggression. After the first blow, the citizen tries to move away while the officer continues to hit him. Subsequently, another officer joins the beating, knocking the victim down and striking him in the face.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, the identity of the assaulted person is still unknown, and it has not been reported whether an internal investigation has been opened against the responsible officers. It is essential to remember that, in the event of facing police abuse, it is important to remain calm and document the incident if it is safe to do so.
Filing a formal complaint with the competent authorities, such as the Internal Affairs of the SSC or the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City, is a crucial step for the investigation of the incident and for corrective measures to be taken. Additionally, seeking legal advice can be essential to protect the victim's rights and ensure proper follow-up of the case.
