The head of the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, has reported receiving death threats. This situation arises after the official suffered an attack during her political campaign in May 2024. Rojo de la Vega mentioned that the threats emerged following operations carried out in the Tepito neighborhood, where the aim was to regulate the so-called chelerías.

At a conference, the mayor shared audio recordings in which she was threatened with death, which she received on her personal Instagram account. In response, she filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City and requested an investigation by the Citizen Security Secretariat of the Central Government.

"We will not hide any threats," asserted the official. In addition to addressing the issue of the threats, Alessandra Rojo highlighted the actions taken during her administration, mentioning that 106 illegal street vendors and 67 illegally parked junk vehicles have been removed from public roads in 10 neighborhoods. A clandestine garbage dump was also eliminated in the Morelos neighborhood, with the detention of 11 people for this practice.

The mayor emphasized collaboration with the Citizen Security Secretariat and other institutions dedicated to safety and justice. She also highlighted the participation of the Auxiliary Police in 112 school security operations, strengthening protection in 13 neighborhoods for the benefit of students and families.

Rojo de la Vega reaffirmed her commitment to continue working for safety, peace, and the recovery of public spaces for the enjoyment of families. She concluded by expressing the government's determination to make decisions in favor of citizenship and in building a future of peace and security for all residents.
