In the Congress of Mexico City, controversy has arisen regarding the discussion of the prohibition of bullfighting. Jesús Sesma, leader of the PVEM and president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), has expressed his support for the prohibition and has threatened not to support deputies who try to delay the ruling on the matter. Additionally, he pointed out that it is important for legislators to take a stand on the issue, as some may be yielding to external pressures and not voting according to their principles.
In this regard, Sesma urged the deputies to define their position regarding the prohibition of bullfighting, emphasizing that it is necessary for it to be put to a vote in the full Congress. The PVEM leader highlighted that it is essential for legislators to be responsible for their vote and act in accordance with the interests of the citizenry.
On the other hand, it has been reported that some anti-bullfighting deputies from the PVEM have received threats through social media from bullfighting advocates, raising concerns within the political sphere. In response to this situation, Jesús Sesma called for respecting the integrity of legislators and their families, emphasizing that violence should have no place in political debate.
Regarding the possible division with Morena, Sesma stated that although there may be differences in positions, it is important to maintain the alliance and continue working together. He also reiterated his commitment to defending animal rights and respect for all forms of life in a healthy environment.
