The Undersecretary of Upper Secondary Education of the SEP, Tania Rodríguez Mora, reported that the elimination of the COMIPEMS exam has been achieved through an agreement among public educational institutions to prioritize education as a right, thus ensuring a place in an upper secondary school for all secondary school graduates.

The Head of Government Clara Brugada celebrated this measure in Mexico City and highlighted the joint work of the universities in the metropolitan area to guarantee the education of young people. This change is part of the educational strategy "National Baccalaureate for All: My right, my place!".

During the signing of the adherence to the Academic Council for the Transformation of Upper Secondary Technical Education, President Claudia Sheinbaum mentioned that with the elimination of the COMIPEMS exam, spaces in public upper secondary schools will be distributed according to the preferences of young people and their proximity to home, except for UNAM and IPN, which will maintain a common entrance exam.

Mario Delgado, Secretary of Public Education, announced that the call for admission to upper secondary education will be published on February 14 for third-year secondary students, allowing them to choose an institution based on preferences such as proximity to home. There will be a single registration platform and a common test will be coordinated for UNAM and IPN.

Additionally, an agreement has been reached with universities and higher education institutions to update training programs and issue a technical and/or professional certificate along with the baccalaureate, facilitating access to work and higher education. This measure aims to guarantee educational opportunities for all secondary school graduates.
