It has been announced that this year there will be a significant change in the process of accessing higher secondary education in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. The Metropolitan Commission of Public Institutions of Higher Secondary Education (Comipems) will disappear, being replaced by the program "National High School for All - My Right, My Place!" promoted by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP).
Starting February 3, students who have completed middle school will be able to secure a place in public higher secondary institutions in both entities without needing to take an entrance exam in many schools. The official announcement of the program will be made on February 14, when the SEP will provide detailed information about the registration process, requirements, and key dates.
The schools that are part of this program and that will not require an entrance exam include the College of Baccalaureate (Colbach), Conalep, DGB, DGETAyCM, DGETI, SECTEI of CDMX and the IEMS. It is important to mention that the high school institutions of UNAM and IPN will continue to require an entrance exam, as well as a fee and a minimum average of 7.0.
The new National High School for All guarantees a place for all registered applicants. In cases of institutions with high demand, a lottery with gender quotas will be implemented, reserving at least 50% of the places for women, promoting equity in access to education.
