Deputy Diana Sánchez Barrios was attacked around 2:40 PM in the streets of the Historic Center, accompanied by two men who were injured. Initially, it was reported that both had died, but it was later clarified that only one lost his life. Images of the alleged assailants were captured by surveillance cameras, who fled on a motorcycle.
Upon her return to the public sphere as a deputy, Sánchez Barrios took her sister's position at the opening of the second ordinary session period. She will join the Parliamentary Association Women for Feminist and Inclusive Commerce to present proposals during this new period. Morena, the party they belong to, will have a majority thanks to alliances with other parties and associations.
This recent attack recalls the assassination attempt suffered by Diana Sánchez Barrios at the end of last year. In October 2024, the activist was shot on Motolinia Street, near 5 de Mayo Avenue, in the Historic Center. After the attack, chaos erupted in the area, with people running for shelter and some chasing the assailants. The deputy was taken to a hospital, while two people were injured on the ground.
