Marianne Gonzaga, a young influencer, has been arrested for stabbing Valentina Gilabert, the current girlfriend of her ex-partner and the father of her daughter Emma. In Mexico, the crime of femicide is committed when a woman is deprived of her life for gender reasons, and now the question arises whether Gonzaga could be charged with attempted femicide in this case, similar to what happened with the YouTuber Fofo Márquez.
The Federal Penal Code stipulates that the penalty for attempted femicide can range from 40 to 60 years in prison, putting Gonzaga in a very serious legal situation. Although the influencer had previously threatened another person, it will be the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City that decides the charge and final sentence for Gonzaga.
In this incident, Gonzaga stabbed Gilabert multiple times in the neck, chest, and hands, leaving her seriously injured. Although there is an audio in which Gonzaga mentions her "narco friends," it has not been confirmed if this is a threat specifically directed at Valentina Gilabert. It is considered that there are gender-related reasons in a case like this when the victim presents circumstances of sexual violence, threats related to the criminal act, among others.
According to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, attempted femicide occurs when a person tries to kill a woman but fails due to causes beyond their control. Gonzaga now faces the legal consequences of her actions, and her family has requested blood donations to support her during this difficult time.
