Sandra Cuevas, the former mayor of Cuauhtémoc, is planning her return to politics in Mexico City. In an event she will lead at Arena México in April, she will introduce new figures who will accompany her on this political and electoral path in the capital of the country.
Cuevas intends to form a new territorial and political organization that will likely integrate into a party of the current opposition. This is with a view to competing in the midterm elections of 2027. Through social media, the former mayor expressed her desire to reform current politics, create new leadership, and develop competent political teams.
In this regard, she has issued a call to recruit new leaders and figures to join her party, the Organization for the Family and Security of Mexico. The goal is to build a strong team capable of competing in the upcoming elections. Cuevas has emphasized the importance of having people without a political past join this new organization.
Although she has not revealed which party she will join, it is speculated that it could be the PAN, which she has praised for being the only one exercising significant opposition at both the national and local levels. Cuevas has the Cuauhtémoc mayoralty, which she already governed between 2021 and 2024, in mind as the starting point for her campaign.
The former mayor is determined to maintain her relevant role in the political landscape of CDMX and is already planning her expansion throughout the city with the leadership profiles she is recruiting: "We are going to expand throughout the city, we are going to cover the city with these profiles," Cuevas stated.
