The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) in coordination with the Attorney General's Office of Justice of Mexico City conducted an operation that resulted in the seizure of 16 tons of stolen auto parts in a property in the Iztacalco borough. The raid was carried out as part of an investigation into a double homicide that occurred on February 10.
During the operation, the seizure of license plates reported as stolen and the detention of four individuals was also achieved. The investigation was initiated after a gun attack in the Los Picos Iztacalco neighborhood where two men lost their lives. Through surveillance camera tracking, a motorcycle used by the alleged perpetrators was identified, leading to the location of the property on Cafetal Street, Granjas México neighborhood.
Four men were detained in possession of apparent drugs, cash, and the motorcycle possibly related to the attack. It was later discovered that the property was being used for the dismantling of stolen vehicles, resulting in the obtaining of a search warrant from a Control Judge.
Members of the SSC and personnel from the FGJ entered the home and secured approximately 16 tons of vehicle auto parts, six dismantled vehicles, four license plates with active theft reports, and a black motorcycle with a theft report. The property was sealed and is under police protection while the investigation continues, and the seized items were made available to the corresponding Public Ministry agent.
