The Government of Mexico City, under the management of Clara Brugada, has decided to eliminate the exam traditionally administered by the Metropolitan Commission of Public Institutions of Upper Secondary Education (Comipems) for entry into upper secondary education. Instead, the program 'My Right, My Place' will be implemented, which will come into effect starting from the admission process for the year 2025.
The recently published call is aimed at those who wish to study high school in institutions located in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico, covering the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and the 22 neighboring municipalities of the State of Mexico.
In this new admission process, educational institutions such as the College of Bachelors, the National College of Technical Professional Education (Conalep), the Institute of Higher Education of Mexico City (IEMS), the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMex) will participate.
The first four mentioned institutions will accept applicants without the need for an exam, ensuring direct and equitable access to their educational programs. On the other hand, UNAM and IPN will continue their admission processes through an exam corresponding to their internal regulations.
Interested applicants can register from March 18 to April 15, following a detailed instruction manual that will include generating lists of educational options, downloading and printing a registration confirmation that will include the order of preference, and other specific requirements.
Those applicants wishing to take the admission exam at IPN or UNAM must be attentive to the specific instructions that will be published on the program's website between May 19 and 22, 2025. This new process aims to facilitate and ensure a more inclusive and equitable access to upper secondary education in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.
