A recent publication has generated controversy in the political sphere, although it has not deterred the presidential candidate from his campaign. Journalist Daniel Lizárraga previously approached lawyer Alejandro Pascal to inform him about the investigation he was conducting regarding the Supervía for a book, repeating the offer he later extended to Badillo. Pascal had not heard back from Lizárraga until recently when he sought to interview Ebrard.
Lizárraga and Solera's clarification indicates the start of the book investigation in 2020 and its focus on possible high-level corruption cases, distancing itself from specific political or judicial circumstances. They request that this clarification be published in the same space as the original column.
In response, Raymundo Riva Palacio offers clarifications, pointing out the audience of the book, the lack of access to the content by those outside the creation process, and the origin of the investigation in a prior inquiry into the Supervía. He mentions that the work does not seek to harm anyone but to perform a journalistic exercise.
The investigation of the Supervía began five years ago and focuses on Marcelo Ebrard. The book review indicates that irregularities were committed during his government management, and the route was subsequently granted to the OHL-Mexico consortium. The delivery of documents to the editor was questioned and generated disagreements.
The journalistic work is based on an investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit of the previous administration, related to alleged illegal acts in the construction of the Supervía. The controversy surrounds Ebrard's figure and the context of negotiations with the U.S. administration.
On the other hand, errors and lack of communication in the reception of documents by journalists are pointed out, as well as the research context of a case closed since 2017. The publication of the book could alter the current political landscape.
