During the third working table of the Single Window for Real Estate Coordination of Mexico City, the mayor of Benito Juárez, Luis Mendoza, highlighted that from now on, construction processes in the borough will be governed by prioritizing the well-being of the neighbors above the interests of real estate developers. In the mayor's words, "We have to start now from the neighbor's side. It is important that we start in reverse; I think the builder and economic interests can be balanced with the first neighborhood interest."
In the working meeting, the viability of two construction projects and the regulation of a third were discussed, where the mayor emphasized the importance of reaching agreements between authorities, neighbors, and developers to achieve better planning and sustainable development in the borough. Mendoza expressed, "It's very important; it's always a priority in terms of construction and especially to advance and generate agreements. Beyond regulations, laws, and norms, we have a backlog regarding urban impact that we will work on in the future."
Alejandro Encinas, secretary of Planning, Territorial Ordering and Metropolitan Coordination, emphasized the importance of working together to provide security to the neighbors concerning their properties. In this regard, he stated, "Our commitment is to the owners, to the residents so they have legal certainty over their property; we must safeguard their rights."
The meeting was attended by secretaries and representatives from various governmental secretariats and agencies, with the purpose of learning about the proposed real estate developments for Benito Juárez that comply with all regulations. The mayor concluded his intervention by expressing his commitment to defending the interests of the neighbors.
