The Sixth District Court in Criminal Matters of Mexico City has granted an office suspension to Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, known as "Don Rodo", to prevent his isolation, transfer, and exile. The measure was issued on February 28, 2025, in response to the amparo claim filed by his defense.
In the agreement related to file 157/2025, the judge determined that the isolation of Oseguera Cervantes must cease immediately. Furthermore, it was established that the security and custody of the accused are under the strict responsibility of the relevant authority, which must take necessary measures according to the nature of the case.
It was ordered to allow him to communicate with his relatives and meet with the defenders he designates. Regarding his possible transfer to the United States, the judge decided that "Don Rodo" must remain in Mexico, suspending any exile or expulsion.
If the acts have already been executed or there is another amparo trial, the suspension will not be valid, according to the stipulations in the agreement. A court officer has been assigned to locate Abraham Oseguera and notify him within three days to ratify or not the amparo claim filed on his behalf, as well as to choose the method of notification and designate responsibilities in the process.
"‘Don Rodo’ recaptured, brother of 'El Mencho'": "Don Rodo", brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was arrested on February 28, 2025, in Tonaya, Jalisco, along with three of his alleged bodyguards. In his initial hearing, house arrest was requested for health reasons, but it was rejected to avoid the risk of flight, as he had previously been released due to irregularities in the process.
The incidental hearing of the amparo trial will take place on March 10, 2025.
