
The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City arrested 87 people for various crimes during operations carried out between February 24 and March 3 in seven municipalities of the capital. As part of these actions for prevention, deterrence, and combatting crime, another 54 people were presented before a civic judge for committing administrative offenses.
In the operations, 400 doses of apparent marijuana, 20 packages containing cocaine, four firearms, two replicas of weapons, and 13 sharp objects were secured. Additionally, 7,418 checks were carried out on individuals and 2,698 on motorcyclists in 83 quadrants of 57 colonies, resulting in the transfer of 35 motorcycles to vehicle deposits for various irregularities.
These deployments will continue itinerantly in all municipalities of Mexico City, in coordination with federal authorities, with the objective of combating crimes, preventing criminal conduct, and gathering information for the integration of investigation files.
The deployments took place in the municipalities of Cuauhtémoc, Gustavo A. Madero, Venustiano Carranza, Iztacalco, Tlalpan, Álvaro Obregón, and Tláhuac, with the participation of 1,473 police supported by 251 SSC vehicles, in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the Mexican Navy, and the National Guard.
Among those arrested were individuals accused of robbery to passersby, business robbery, drug dealing, domestic violence, intentional homicide, and carrying firearms.
