Women's Day March in Mexico City

On March 8, 2025, in Mexico City, the annual march commemorating International Women's Day took place, where thousands of women took to the streets to highlight cases of violence and abuse affecting women. During the march, participants carried signs and banners referring to the issues that plague them, highlighting high-profile cases that have impacted the country.

In a video that went viral on social media, a piñata featuring politician and former soccer player Cuauhtémoc Blanco was raised in the middle of the crowd, who was recently accused of attempted rape against his half-sister. As the piñata was lifted, the women present chanted slogans such as "let him come see, let him come see, he is not a congressman, he is a rapist, macho, oppressor."

Since October 2024, Cuauhtémoc Blanco has faced a serious accusation that was filed with the Attorney General's Office of Morelos. Following this complaint, his immunity was requested to allow the corresponding investigation to proceed. In response to these allegations, the former soccer player publicly stated that he strongly denies the crime he is accused of and pointed out that the previous year he had filed a complaint against his accuser for attempted extortion.
