Bullfighting Law to be Approved in CDMX

The full session of the Donceles Palace will meet next Tuesday to discuss and approve the law related to bullfighting, bringing an end to a prolonged debate on the subject. The law is expected to be approved by a wide majority after an agreement reached between the ruling party and the opposition following months of tensions and discussions.

The initiative, promoted by the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, and supported by the president of the Jucopo and coordinator of the Green Party, Jesús Sesma, proposes to regulate bullfighting so that it is carried out without violence or bloodshed. This proposal aims to ensure the welfare of animals, specifying that at the end of the fight, they must return to the ranch.

On Friday, the Constitutional Points Commission of the Congress of Mexico City unanimously moved forward with the initiative presented by the head of government, Clara Brugada, receiving the support of the PAN, Morena, PT, and Green Party. This step has been celebrated as a historic and significant moment in the regulation of bullfighting, marking a before and after in the Bullring.
