Mexican authorities detained Francisco Javier 'N' in Veracruz on Monday, who is identified by the FBI as one of the ten most wanted fugitives in the United States. The detainee is of Salvadoran nationality and, according to intelligence reports, belongs to the criminal organization Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), which has an international presence, detailed Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch.
The individual nicknamed 'Veterano' faces accusations of conspiracy to provide support to terrorists, narcoterrorism conspiracy, organized crime, and human trafficking, according to U.S. authorities. Following intelligence and surveillance efforts, security forces located Francisco Javier 'N' in the town of Baxtla, in the state of Veracruz (eastern Mexico).
Specialized teams conducted follow-up operations on the Teocelo-Baxtla road, where he was identified and detained. He was subsequently transferred to the capital, Mexico City, where he remains in custody of the relevant authorities, awaiting deportation to the United States. The detention was achieved as part of the binational cooperation between Mexico and the U.S. to combat organized crime amid trade and migration tensions.
The capture of Francisco Javier 'N' adds to the recent detention in Mexico of Kevin Fernando Perdomo Díaz, alias 'El Kino', an alleged member of Mara Salvatrucha, who was arrested in Texcoco, State of Mexico.
