A 42-year-old man was arrested by agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City after entering a residence in the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood, in the Álvaro Obregón borough, pretending to be a security officer. The individual, wearing a tactical uniform and driving a vehicle with official insignia, tricked an elderly adult into stealing several valuable items.

The detainee was allegedly linked to the Federal Protection Service (SPF), although this information has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. He posed as a member of this institution to enter the house, inhabited by elderly people, where he perpetrated the theft. When confronted by the victim inside the home, he claimed to have an arrest warrant.

The arrest took place on Insurgentes Sur Avenue and Eje 6, in the Ciudad de los Deportes neighborhood, Benito Juárez borough, following a chase. During a preventive inspection, two firearms (one short and one long), five magazines, more than 100 cartridges, cash in dollars and pesos, as well as a suitcase with the stolen items were seized.

Authorities mentioned that among the found items was also a gray video recorder, personal identification of the complainant, two mobile devices, two watches, a bracelet, a bronze bracelet, a collar, and a necklace, both made of silver. The moment of the arrest was captured on video and published by journalist Pablo Castorena, generating outrage on social media.

Thanks to the alert and monitoring of C2 Poniente cameras, officials were able to locate the vehicle in which the suspect was escaping, leading to a successful capture operation. The timely action of the authorities allowed for the detention of the individual, who attempted to steal personal belongings from the residence inhabited by elderly people in Jardines del Pedregal, in Álvaro Obregón.
