A worker from the Mexico City Metro was detained on April 20 under suspicion of being in a state of intoxication. The events occurred at the Cuatro Caminos station on Line 2. In a video shared on social media, the woman, allegedly a station manager, showed signs of intoxication and had a defiant and rude attitude towards authorities during her detention.
According to reports, the woman was caught with cans of alcoholic beverages in a trash can inside the Metro offices. Given this situation, the Mexico City Collective Transport System (STC) announced that the employee was immediately removed from her position and an investigation is being conducted. The safety of public transport users was mentioned as a priority.
If the facts are confirmed, the corresponding sanctions will be applied according to the General Working Conditions of the Transport System. The zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviors was reaffirmed by the Metro authority. Social media users expressed their outrage and pointed out previous incidents involving workers in similar situations in the past.
