Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, wife of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed her support for Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. "And don't you forget for a moment that we are millions who support her and are very proud that she is our president, a valuable, very valuable woman," she said. This morning, Sheinbaum stated at her press conference that she filed a complaint against the man who harassed her, and also expects an apology from the media that disseminated photographs of the aggression, taken from a video that went viral on social networks. Sheinbaum Pardo also rejected the revictimization carried out against her by opposing political figures who accuse her of "fabricating" the aggression to divert media attention from the violence in Michoacán. "It sounds like when a woman goes to the Public Prosecutor's Office and they say, 'Why were you wearing a short dress?' (...) Did the president ask for it by walking, or how?" she questioned. A day earlier, when Sheinbaum was walking through the center of the capital and greeting some citizens, a man in an apparent state of drunkenness approached her, tried to kiss her on the neck and then hugged her from behind. Hours later, federal authorities confirmed that the aggressor, identified as Uriel Rivera Martínez, was arrested and remanded to the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office for Sexual Crimes.
