In the 2027 elections, Mexico City is set to be one of the country's most important political stages. This could revive the conflict that existed between the factions that promoted the current Secretary of Security as a candidate for Head of Government and the ultimate winner of that dispute, Clara Brugada. As reported by LPO, over the past few months, the political team close to the current Secretary has begun a series of political preparations for 2027 and 2030. This is not only because it is the capital, but also because of the potential clash of teams that could serve as a prelude to the main event of 2030. This was accompanied by the appointment of their political operators to federal positions, such as Rodríguez Díaz de León himself or the current National Commissioner for Aquaculture and Fisheries, Rigoberto Salgado. Among them, for example, is the local deputy for Tlalpan who aspires to govern the mayoralty, Pedro Haces, or the president of the board of directors of the Palace of Donceles, Jesús Sesma, two men who supported him last year. One of them, for instance, is the current federal Undersecretary of Security, José Luis Rodríguez Díaz de León, who leads rallies to promote the figure of Omar García Harfuch in different districts. Various sources from the 'guinda' party of CDMX assured this editorial that, during the past weekends, the Undersecretary of Criminal Policy of the Secretariat of Security led neighborhood meetings along with various figures from the 4T to promote the achievements of the department led by Harfuch in the fight against extortion, one of the most publicized topics by that office. Sheinbaum defended a 37% reduction in homicides in her administration: 'There are already results with our strategy.' However, according to these same capital sources, at these neighborhood meetings, some 4T leaders took it upon themselves to promote the figure of Omar García Harfuch himself with political and electoral objectives for the 2027 and 2030 elections. Therefore, various figures are already working to gain ground within the 4T. According to what LPO was able to learn, the sectors that still answer to him seek to gain ground in the upcoming elections and warn: 'We've had enough once.' The Undersecretary of Security, José Luis Rodríguez Díás de León, during one of the rallies in favor of Omar García Harfuch. In this context, over the past few months, Harfuch himself has held meetings with figures from CDMX. In this context, the 4T warns that there are no coincidences and that the movements could accelerate in the coming months. One of the lingering doubts, for example, is to determine whether these moves, which over the past weekends included neighborhood meetings in the delegations of La Magdalena Contreras and Álvaro Obregón, have the personal promotion of Harfuch himself or, for now, are happening more individually and personally from each of his operators. In any case, if his team starts to play hardball in CDMX, it could revive the 2024 internal conflict in 2027 and 2030 with unknown consequences for the 4T.
