On Tuesday, the mayor of Azcapotzalco, Nancy Núñez, appeared to report. She explained that her administration achieved a 17% reduction in crime incidence compared to 2024, 23% compared to 2023, and 32% compared to the previous period under Mayor Margarita Saldaña. This signifies a tightening of security measures compared to the previous administration. Additionally, the mayor highlighted that the demarcation received the State Sports Award, making Azcapotzalco the first public entity to receive it, as it had always been previously awarded to private organizations or companies. Núñez also noted that her administration climbed four positions in the local medal table in just one year of government. Over the coming days, other authorities from the city's delegations will continue to present their reports and expose their demands. These will be considered in the budget project for next year, being drafted by the Secretary of Administration and Finance, Juan Pablo de Botton. The first mayor to appear before the Palace of Donceles was the head of Álvaro Obregón, Javier López Casarín, who demanded an 11% budget increase for his demarcation starting next year, aiming to reach 4,384 million pesos, up from the 3,950 million received in 2025. He also highlighted the work done in security, poverty alleviation, mobility, and the restoration of ravines. The MORENA mayor also announced that his administration will put the MXÁO-1 microsatellite into orbit this week. It will allow monitoring of green areas, mitigating civil protection risks, improving urban planning, and making mobility more efficient. "It's an example of what we can achieve when we work as a team," he highlighted and stated that it will "generate information to make decisions in urban planning matters." The second authority to appear was the mayor of Azcapotzalco, Nancy Núñez, who focused part of her speech on security. The authorities of the 16 delegations of Mexico City began appearing before the corresponding local congress commissions on Tuesday to present the key details of their first year in office and to anticipate their economic and political demands for 2026.
