Mexican President Stresses Relevance of Revolutionary Values

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted this Thursday that the historic transformation begun in the country in 1910, the year the Mexican Revolution started, remains relevant in the defense of national sovereignty, social justice, and the rejection of any form of foreign interference.

In her speech during the commemorative ceremony for the 115th anniversary of the start of the Mexican Revolution, prior to the traditional civic-military parade with which Mexico annually remembers the event, the head of state affirmed that the country's historical memory continues to guide the Mexican people, who "throughout their history never accepted injustice as their destiny."

Sheinbaum emphasized that the Revolution became one of the "great transformations of the 20th century," vindicating the people's right to choose their rulers, along with the nation's full economic and political independence.

Mexico defends its path The Mexican president stated that today, as it did over a century ago, Mexico defends its path without admitting external pressures or political reversals.

In this sense, she sent a strong message to those who promote confrontation or support foreign intervention in national affairs. Similarly, she noted that those who "think the people are fools" or believe the country's political transformation has lost momentum will not prosper.

The head of state warned that speeches designed to "normalize violence," "glorify imposition," or restore "privileges for a few" no longer resonate in Mexican society.

"The people of Mexico are stronger because they know that together we defend sovereignty, independence, democracy, and justice," added Sheinbaum.

As part of the official commemoration of the 115th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, from the early hours of Thursday, the contingents of the Armed Forces that participated in the traditional military parade gathered on the Zócalo in the Mexican capital. The parade proceeded to the Monument to the Revolution, traveling along the main streets of Mexico City.

The Mexican Revolution was an armed conflict that lasted nearly seven years (1910-1917) whose aim was to democratize national political life and establish a more just socio-economic order, following 35 years of the regime known as the Porfiriato, led by dictator Porfirio Díaz.
