In Mexico City, at the historic Palacio de Minería, a ceremony was held that reaffirms the timeliness and strength of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in a complex national context. Rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas awarded 14 honorary doctoral degrees to outstanding figures from different countries whose careers have made an extraordinary contribution to the advancement of knowledge and the well-being of humanity. Despite the difficulties the country and the university community have faced, UNAM has not been paralyzed. The rector emphasized that the university's autonomy is not isolation or a privilege, but an attribute that allows it to serve with freedom and rigor. UNAM is a space for encounter, a mosaic of perspectives, and a crucible of worldviews that form part of the heritage of Mexican society. To conclude the ceremony, the Choir of the Academy of Ancient Music and the Eduardo Mata University Youth Orchestra brilliantly performed the first movement of Mozart's Symphony No. 40.
