As Arturo Ávila appears to be focusing his positioning efforts on Cuauhtémoc in Mexico City, a senator is making her own moves to secure a new ballot spot and attempt to reach the governorship of a state that the 'guinda' (red) party has never conquered.
Over the past few months, the spokesperson for Morena's parliamentary group in San Lázaro, Arturo Ávila, has changed his political strategy for the future and begun to center his positioning efforts on the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, in the heart of Mexico City.
In 2016, after helping to found the Morena party in the state, he tried again but only secured 3% of the vote.
In 2022, he achieved his best performance with 33%, but this was not enough, as the current governor, Teresa Giménez, won with a commanding 53% of the citizen preferences.
"In the 4T government, as LPO sources recognized in the national leadership, there are not high expectations of winning the state that has recently become a bastion of the PAN."
Sources in the Senate told LPO that the former Undersecretary of Education for Andrés Manuel López Obrador has gained ground and trust in her relationship with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who would view Arturo Ávila with some resistance due to a series of scandals and political and ethical inconsistencies that have plagued him in recent months.
In this way, Rubalcava seeks to lead the 'guinda' ticket once again and secure her fourth candidacy to run for governor.
In a short time, Ávila achieved significant media and symbolic positioning, but not so much politically due to the revived internal conflicts and the lack of agreements surrounding his figure.
The figure who has taken advantage of this new scenario is Senator Nora Ruvalcaba, who is gaining ground in the officialist internal race.
As reported by LPO, the federal deputy began to play in the 'guinda' internal race in the capital, where different groups are trying to defeat Rojo de la Vega in 2027.
Various political sources in the district told LPO that her name does not achieve consensus among different historical actors, so a possible candidacy is also not certain.
Gallardo seeks to secure his wife's candidacy, but Sheinbaum puts it in doubt.
On the other hand, Senator Nora Ruvalcaba seeks to take advantage of this political change to gain her own ground with the objective of securing her fourth candidacy for governor in Aguascalientes.
This situation—which did not go unnoticed by the mayor, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega—changed the distribution of power in Aguascalientes, the state where her candidacy for governor was taken for granted.
The first time was in 2010, when she got 4% of the vote for the PRD.
However, this does not imply that there are no tensions within Morena.
