Mexico City Mayor Accuses Opposition of Spying

The mayor of Álvaro Obregón, Javier López Casarín, reported this Friday that a man was following him after leaving a report from the capital's attorney general, Bertha Alcalde. According to the mayor, the man pursued his vehicle, taking photographs and videos. Casarín announced that following an intervention by the Citizen Security Secretariat, it was determined that the individual has ties to opposition sectors. 'Legislating is not about spying, pursuing, or intimidating,' stated Casarín. He also added, 'I am not here to confront, but to say clearly: I do not know what the intentions are of having me followed.' During the operation, the suspect was apprehended, and it was discovered that he maintains connections with the opposition. The mayor emphasized that such behaviors should not be normalized or taken lightly.
