In response to this, the local administration is seeking to advance with harmonization and order in the area with a plan that, on one hand, contemplates the sale of products, and on the other, will strengthen its lighting and security.

Sergio Mayer seeks to position himself in Coyoacán and generates discontent in Morena.

«All the streets, corners, and plazas of the Historic Center will be well-lit,» promised the former mayor of Iztapalapa, who advanced that the program will seek to help pedestrians so they can enjoy the area of the city.

In recent months, moreover, the presence of street commerce with stalls and shops of all types on its main arteries has grown, which increased the discomfort of motorists and pedestrians.

To this end, it launched a new lighting program, which contemplates the intervention of 57 kilometers of 137 streets and seven plazas of the first quadrant of the city, along with the lighting of 15 emblematic buildings in the area.

«Sometimes when we talk about lighting we think of lighting for cars, here we think of lighting for pedestrians,» she explained and stated that the 15 buildings that will also be lit will represent another 73 thousand square meters of public space that the new program will integrate.

According to her explanation, among these properties will be: the Historical Archive of Notaries of CDMX; the Bank of London and Mexico; the Museum of Mexico City; the Living Museum of Muralism; the Vizcaínas Museum; the Palace of the Marquis of the Apartado; the Parish of San Juan de Dios; the Parish of Santa María la Redonda; Santo Domingo Square; the Temple of Jesus Nazarene and the Purísima Concepción; the Temple of San Bernardo; the Temple of San Francisco; the Temple of San Felipe Neri La Profesa; the Temple and Old Convent of Regina Coeli; and the Temple and Old Convent of Santo Domingo.

They accuse «Lobito» of assaulting a deputy and seizing the CDMX Congress.

Likewise, the program is included in the package of works that the capital's government is carrying out for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will begin in June in CDMX.

«No, these are works that will be permanent, which means the transformation of an emblematic place,» she completed.

The Head of Government of CDMX, Clara Brugada, maintains her project to recover the Historic Center of the capital.

In this framework, it is expected that the Zócalo will be one of the nerve centers and most transit points during the World Cup date, so it is also betting on its enhancement.

«What we simply did was accelerate the works that we already had planned and they are not flashy works for such an important event.»

«This valley has always been a valley of lights,» she manifested.

For some time, the recovery of the Historic Center has been a strong demand against local administrations.
