The family of powerful drug trafficker Nemesio Oseguera, nicknamed "El Mencho", requested the release of his body, the Attorney General's office informed international media in Mexico City. Oseguera died on Sunday during a military operation in the state of Jalisco, unleashing a wave of violence with business burnings and road blockades in 20 of the country's 32 states. The Mexican Attorney General's office "received a written document, delivered by someone who claimed to be a legal representative of Oseguera's family," in which "the delivery of his mortal remains is requested," the institution assured in a statement. "El Mencho", 59 years old, led the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and was, until now, the most-wanted drug trafficker by the United States government, which offered a reward of 15 million dollars. What happened to El Mencho's body The body was transferred to the Attorney General's facilities in Mexico City after his death was confirmed, reported the site RFI, consulted by the Argentine News Agency. In the operation and in subsequent clashes, at least 27 security agents, 46 alleged criminals, and one civilian died, the French site recalled. The Attorney General's office indicated that two alleged bodyguards of "El Mencho" detained during the operation were transferred to a maximum-security prison in the central State of Mexico.
