The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, led a new security report in Iztacalco. She stated that "the security strategy continues to advance" and detailed that between January 1 and February 28, the national capital managed to reduce high-impact crimes by 14% compared to last year. "The great task and the great goal is to achieve that Mexico City becomes a great Territory of Peace and Equality," she added. In this context, the head of government stated that the capital is prepared to receive the FIFA World Cup, which will hold five matches at the Azteca Stadium. She also reported that 1,039 alleged criminals were arrested, which allowed the dismantling of 36 criminal cells operating in different boroughs of the capital and maintaining ties with criminal groups from other federal entities. Regarding homicides—the most significant crime for the government and public opinion—Brugada reported that the year-on-year decrease was 22% and 56% compared to 2019.
