The collective #HoySomosTodoPorMiguel accused one of the companies held responsible for the deaths of photojournalists Berenice Giles and Miguel Ángel Rojas at the Axe Ceremonia 2025 of delaying the judicial process with a legal strategy. This strategy, they claim, is coordinated with lawyers who claim to represent one of the victims. During a press conference held a few days before the anniversary of the tragedy, the organization, made up of human rights defenders, journalists, as well as relatives and friends of Miguel Ángel Rojas, stated that Operadora Eclectic has filed approximately 15 amparo lawsuits, 13 of which aimed to prevent the initial hearing from taking place. Furthermore, lawyers Fabián Alejandro Victoria Rangel and Gerardo Guzmán Jiménez, who represent the Giles family in the process, have filed legal motions in virtual sync with Operadora Eclectic not only to delay the hearing but also to exonerate this company and have its status as an accused party removed from the criminal process, despite being obligated to defend the victims' interests and publicly stating that all parties should be investigated. According to the lawyers for the Rojas family, there is no need to delay the initial hearing to formulate new charges. 'They say that if these companies are not brought in, nothing will happen. That's a lie,' stated lawyer Edwin Alan Piñón at Tuesday's press conference, citing the Ayotzinapa case as an example where multiple charges have been filed over the years as the investigation evolved. 'The question is, why delay the initial hearing when we already have evidence against the companies and individuals?' The lawyers for the Rojas family also accused Gerardo Guzmán Jiménez, who is also a public official, of protecting the interests of one of the companies. They demanded an explanation from the Mexico City Water Secretariat and Head of Government Clara Brugada. 'For a public official in the exercise of their functions to be protecting one of the companies, which in itself could be a crime, speaks of corruption,' emphasized lawyer Piñón. He added that an investigation must be carried out by the Internal Control Body to determine what is happening with this public servant, as he may be part of the chain of omissions that led to the collapse of the decorative crane that cost the young photographers their lives. The Rojas family lawyers also denied having any interest in defending Ocesa and Lobo or being 'bought' by these companies, as the representatives of the Giles family have claimed. They believe this type of disqualification comes directly from Operadora Eclectic, once again in sync with Berenice's representatives. They also noted that while the prosecution cleared Ocesa and its security company, the entertainment giant was indeed an ally of Eco Live at Axe Ceremonia and has continued to be so in subsequent events.
