The Morena parliamentary group expressed its full support for Plan B, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which proposes a cut to the budgets of local and federal congresses as part of an austerity policy. Deputy Paulo Emilio García stated that this measure is necessary to ensure a more efficient use of public resources. "The budget of the congresses has to be adjusted," he emphasized. Budget Cut: Precedent in Mexico City The legislator recalled that during Sheinbaum's tenure in the country's capital, a cut of approximately 400 million pesos was applied to the local congress, which allowed for a reduction in expenses without affecting its operation. Additionally, he explained that the bill establishes a maximum limit of 0.70% of the total budget for the congresses, a threshold that Mexico City already meets after the austerity measures previously implemented. Morena Defends Austerity and Policy Without Excesses During "La Chilanguera," the deputy highlighted that Morena has demonstrated that it is possible to do politics with fewer resources, without resorting to excessive spending or privileges. "We are not here for money, we are here to strengthen the transformation," expressed the deputy, who also pointed out that if necessary, more cuts should be applied in favor of citizen well-being. Commitment to Responsible Resource Use The support for Plan B reinforces Morena's stance of promoting an austere and efficient government, where the public budget is prioritarily allocated to programs and actions that directly benefit the population.
